When I first started this blog, one of my first ever posts was a review on James Arthurs’ latest single; ‘You’re nobody till somebody loves you‘. It’s been three years since that post, and a lot has changed…
James has been on a creative hiatus for the past few years. For huge fans of his music, this was pretty devastating news. But anyone that was a fan of James, knew how important this was for him.
On September the 9th, James released his comeback single: Say You Won’t Let Go. The single has reached No.1 on the iTunes chart and as of today, number 1 on the Vodafone singles chart. This is a huge moment for James and I really hope he can smash it next week and become official number 1 on Radio 1. I have no doubt in my mind that he can do it.
I have fallen completely in love with this song, so much that it’s on back to back. As soon as I heard it there was no way I could not write about it. I had already messaged a lot of my friends, so this was the only thing left to do.
I honestly find this track so heart wrenching. Listening to the lyrics, it becomes very clear that James is writing with raw, authentic emotion. The story we’re being told becomes clear, very quickly and really plays on our heart strings. The track is completely stripped back compared to his previous stuff, which allows us to really hear his unique vocals. The guitar and piano backing creates a real chilled out acoustic vibe making it that sweet sounding love song.
His album titled “Back from the edge” is set for release on the 4th November 2016. You can preorder it here now. From the title, I’m expecting this album to be honest and very real. I for one, cannot wait to hear it.
I have been a huge fan of James since his very first audition, I couldn’t be happier that he’s healthy and making a well deserved comeback. This single is just the start of a very exciting career for James.
